The Iberia Parish government has officially withdrawn from the Acadiana Juvenile Justice District, becoming the fifth parish to step away from the proposed regional juvenile detention facility.

Faith House and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office reopened the Family Justice Center, which offers assistance to those experiencing domestic violence. Acadiana, as defined by the Louisiana legislature, refers to the area that stretches from just west of New Orleans to the Texas border along the Gulf of Mexico coast, and about 100 miles (160 km) inland to Marksville. It stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to about 100 miles inland, and covers about 14,500 square miles.
